Happy June!
Hi there!
It's June, that means it's almost the middle of the year. How time flies, I didn't notice that my last post was 2 months ago. :( how have we been doing since our last post? Well, a lot! We've been busy building our stocks, joining craft fairs and making custom orders. And to think that we're only doing all of it during the weekends and holidays! Aahh, part of life's surprises. I'm happy with it, it makes life more exciting. I treat every waking day as an adventure ;)

Weekend at the Museum
It was a very fulfilling weekend at the National Museum of Singapore on the weekend of 23-24 February. We were there as part of Public Garden. It was there that we 'quietly' launch a new product, the handmade paper. The handmade paper is a product of the Value Farm and it is based in the Philippines. To know more about them and their cause, you may visit their website in the link I provided.
Last weekend, we've brought new journals at the Flamingo Shoppe. The shop is located at 16A Haji Lane (Singapore). They are at the second level. If you were not able to catch us at any of the craft/flea markets, you may still get our handmade/homemade notebooks and journals there. Here is a photo of some of our journals.
Our journals are in the center and front. Some designs are only available in Flamingo.

SGSS 2012
Thank you for visiting our booth at the Singapore Gifts and Stationery Show at the Marina Bay Sands Expo. You must be here (at this site) to know more about us and what we do. You can check out our "About Us " link.
Here is a summary:
1372 designs' main aim is to make use of existing items (recycle). Transform (redesign) it into a new functional item so it can be reused.
Apologies for not having any handouts/brochures. There are a lot of unwanted handouts going around and we don't want to add to that. We all know where it will go, right? Just send us a mail if you need a brochure and we will gladly send it to you.
Here is the brochure from PaTH's FB page.
See you :)

what have you done today to make you feel proud?
I discovered this song from Heather Small while searching for "opening ceremony olympics" in youtube. I learned also that this was the song they (England) used for their Olympic bid. It was a nice song with great and powerful lyrics.
So, to answer that song, yes I did something last week that made me feel proud. I made a 'bald statement' in support of the Singapore Children's Cancer Foundation. A lot of these kids don't have a choice (to be bald), but me I have. For me, it's just bearing the humiliation and looks of pity from other people but for them, they're also in pain :'( By doing this, we (volunteers) can at least alleviate their pain. You can also do your part and donate. Hair for Hope is still accepting donations and volunteer opportunities.
I've been sporting this 'bald look' for a week now and having a grand time. I didn't realize that it will look okay on me. I get a lot of stares most of the time but who cares, this is my choice and proud of it. As what one cancer patient said "i'm too sexy for my hair" :)

On another note, will be participating in the Singapore Gifts and Stationery Show (SGSS) on 15-17 August 2012. It'll be at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center. We're joining as part of PaTH/SIP.
'til my next post... have a nice week ahead :)

Sisley
Do you know that there is an artist called Sisley? Alfred Sisley. Me, I didn't until last week! All I know is that Sisley is a brand of bag which is always beside Benetton in most shops. Now, I need to search if Benetton is also a person (anyone here knows?)... whoa, too much for educating my daughter, 'think I also need it... darn!
This is Alfred Sisley's work titled "Spring, Aspens and Acacias".
this is her (at the left) busying herself while we are inside the museum. the boy on her right might've been thinking the same thing.
Remember the laptop boxes that we got a few weeks ago? we acquired some more (happiness :)) here is the finished product...
I call this my dumpster collection :)
Come and see the new collection on Feb 4-5, 2012 at Vivocity. We will be joining Pop and Talent Hub (PaTH) on that weekend. Details here:

the art of dumpster diving

We've got new trash! It's becoming a habit now but what can we do? It's just there, waiting for the recycling truck. It's still new... so to make the long story short, we took it. And it's safe in the trash err craft room waiting to be transformed. Watch out for it!
Have a great week ahead!

2012
Happy new year!!! My first post for the year, yey :) Hope everyone is fine and feeling great. In 2 weeks' time, we will usher in the year of the dragon. World population will greatly rise this year due to this :)
First things first, I will skip MAAD this Friday (13th Jan). I am low on stocks and new designs. But definitely will be back on February. Like me on facebook will you? So you'll be updated. It's easy to put updates in FB than in blogger.
I'll leave you with this photo taken just this evening. It serves as an inspiration to me... hoping I can think of another way to use these... got these from the recycling bin ;)

UNO!
I often hear UNO! being shouted at the office during break times. This is the favorite pasttime at my workplace, I guess this is better than chit-chatting ;) One night, after several rounds of the game, they decided to throw away some of the worn-out UNO cards. There were a lot and my heart is aching to see it go to the waste bin. To make the long story short, I mustered my courage and asked my colleagues that I want it. At first, they were shocked. Probably they're thinking that maybe I cannot afford to buy one for myself hehehe But then, I explained that I want to make something new out of it. I think they bought that explanation...
This is how it looked like.
And this is the new UNO notepad...
If you want to own one, do come down to MAAD at the Red Dot Design Museum tonight (7th Oct). We'll be there from 5pm to 12mn. This time, I will be inside the musuem. Hope to see there ;)

the after MAAD effect
It was more than a week since we participated MAAD pyjamas but I still feel the effect. I got so inspired by the people I've met, both the customers and my co-vendors. It was a totally different experience than the previous MAAD events. The crowd was awesome and the organizers did a great job. Appreciate it very much.
To start with, I didn't participate for 4 months (the last being on March). It's just that I was too busy at my day job or I lack the initiative to continue what I am doing. But everything changed after MAAD pyjamas. I got my mojo again ;)
I signed-up for the September MAAD, hopefully I get selected... and hopefully I'll be inside the museum (cross-fingers).
Also, rediscover SG covered the event. And we got tiny bit of airtime in their video hehehe click here. Our suitcase is the second to the last. Thanks rediscoverSG team.

friendship
Hello everyone!
How did you celebrate the Earth Hour yesterday? For us, we went out to watch the stars. It really helped that there were a lot of people who turned off their lights 'cause we were able to really see the stars ;) Hope everyone will really go beyond the hour...
I've been busy making friendship bracelets lately. I'm hoping I can sell all these and donate all the proceeds to the Singapore Red Cross for their relief effort on the Japan Disaster.
Here are some of it. It's red and white, to match Japan's flag.

If you're interested to purchase, please email me at karitonko@yahoo.com. I don't have any craft market scheduled this March and April so all purchases will be online.
Have a great week ahead!
